Districts in méribel: charm and authenticity in the heart of the alps
Méribel, one of the flagship resorts of Les 3 Vallées, is renowned for its enchanting setting, upscale infrastructure and traditional architecture. The resort is spread over several districts, each with its own distinct ambience, offering visitors a diverse choice of accommodation, services and activities. Let’s take a look at Méribel’s main neighbourhoods, all linked by a network of free shuttles and lifts.
Méribel-centre: the beating heart of the resort
Méribel-Centre is the resort’s main and liveliest neighbourhood. Located at an altitude of 1,450 meters, it offers a myriad of shops, restaurants, bars and other amenities. This is where you’ll find the main tourist facilities, such as the tourist office, as well as the Olympic Park, which houses an ice rink, swimming pool and wellness centre.
This neighbourhood is also the departure point for a number of ski lifts providing quick access to the slopes, including the Chaudanne gondola at the bottom of the village. Méribel-Centre is ideal for those seeking the excitement of the resort while enjoying direct access to the slopes.
Méribel-mottaret: closest to the slopes
Located at an altitude of 1,750 meters, Méribel-Mottaret is the resort’s highest neighbourhood, offering direct access to the slopes of Les 3 Vallées ski area. This is the perfect choice for skiers, with a resolutely sports-oriented atmosphere. Here, everything is designed to simplify the lives of ski enthusiasts: most residences and hotels are “ski-in, ski-out”, meaning you are on the slopes as soon as you step out the door.
Although quieter than Méribel-Centre, Mottaret still offers a selection of restaurants, shops and bars, all combined with a friendly feel. It is ideal for families and groups of friends looking for practicality and convenience.
Méribel village: Savoyard authenticity
Méribel Village is a charming hamlet located at an altitude of 1,400 metres, just five minutes from Méribel-Centre. The area boasts a true Savoyard village feel, complete with traditional wooden and stone chalets and a peaceful ambience.
Méribel Village features local shops (bakery, mini-market, restaurants) and a chairlift for easy access to the slopes. It is the ideal location for those seeking peace and authenticity, while remaining close to the resort’s activities and ski lifts.
Méribel-Les Allues : the historic village
Situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters, Les Allues is the valley’s historic village, where you can still soak up the authentic feel of a traditional mountain village. Less touristy and more residential, this area offers a real taste of local life, with its narrow streets, old farmhouses and church.
Although a little further from the slopes, Les Allues is linked to the ski area by a gondola and regular shuttle buses. This neighbourhood is popular with those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the more central districts, while remaining well-connected to Méribel and its infrastructure.
Méribel-Les Hauts : prestige and panoramic views
Méribel-Les Hauts comprises several small hamlets located at altitude, such as Belvédère and Renarde, all offering exceptional panoramic views over the valley. These neighbourhoods are characterised by luxury chalets and high-end residences, perfect for visitors seeking the ultimate in comfort and tranquillity.
In addition to their exclusive setting, these areas also offer quick access to the slopes thanks to nearby lifts, so you can experience a sense of seclusion while enjoying proximity to the resort’s activities.
